About Us:

The Endeavour Centre is a not-for-profit sustainable building school, offering certificate programs in Sustainable New Construction, Sustainable Renovations and Sustainable Design, as well as natural building workshops. Our programs offer hands-on education on real-world projects.

We're committed to being a GreenLeader in our operations, products and services, and in supporting our community.

2) Initial Actions

We've done at least five significant actions, relevant to the size of our operation:
  1. We source all materials locally.
  2. We source all labour locally.
  3. We do not purchase or use any products with embedded toxins.
  4. We use renewable biomass heating.
  5. We only commit to projects with bicycle and public transit access.

Over half of our products or services are environmentally preferable, with independent certification where appropriate.

We are certified through the following programs:
Our sustainable building programs teach students how to achieve the highest level of sustainability in construction. Past projects have achieved LEED Platinum status and are world leaders in the use of natural building systems, net zero energy and zero toxins.

We contribute 1% of time and/or sales to the community:

Sustainable New Construction Certificate

Our 5-month, full-time Sustainable New Construction certificate program involves you in every aspect of making a highly sustainable building. From simple natural building materials like straw and clay to state-of-the-art energy systems, our students experience the learning that comes from being responsible for all aspects of construction, from planning and budgeting to fine finishes and systems commissioning. Interacting with experienced builders and tradespeople, students work with designs, materials and technologies that are at the forefront of sustainable building, including: * straw bale * earthen plasters * earthbag * hempcrete * straw/clay * timber frame * solar hot water * rain water collection and treatment * alternative wastewater treatment * geothermal heating * photovoltaics * earthen floors * advanced lighting * cob * local wood & woodworking * and much more! The learning experience suits the seasoned building professional and the excited newcomer alike. The diversity of students in our classes creates a unique atmosphere of cooperation, shared learning and partnership. This experience can put you on the path to a future in sustainable building, from first-time owner-builder to general contractor.

Our 4-month full-time Renovations certificate program involves you in every aspect of renovating an existing building to bring it new life and high standards of sustainability. From simple natural building materials to state-of-the-art energy systems, our students experience the learning that comes from being responsible for all aspects of a renovation, from planning and budgeting to fine finishes and systems commissioning. Interacting with experienced builders and tradespeople, students work with designs, materials and technologies that are at the forefront of sustainable renovations. The learning experience suits the seasoned building professional and the excited newcomer alike. The diversity of students in our classes creates a unique atmosphere of cooperation, shared learning and partnership. This experience can put you on the path to a future in sustainable renovations, from first-time home-owner to general contractor.
