An initiative to build youth leadership through community food security. This Youth Leadership and community development initiative engaged youth in their community in organic farming/gardening, community food animation, social entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship and health promotion. The CYL Project provided youth with an opportunity to learn about community food security, local food production system, the natural environment and community development through hands on practical farm/garden work, life skill training, leadership development and civic engagement activities
Youth urban greening and employment development training
CNI is an education and outreach program delivered through our newsletters, workshops, presentations, summer camps and community cultural events. The focus of this program is nutrition and food system education.
A community appreciation award ceremony honoring individuals and community groups involved in Community Food Security and Community Development in the African Canadian community. The award is to highlight the development of Community Food Security and raise awareness about this new movement.
