If you have a fridge or freezer that’s 15 years or older, we’ll haul it out of your home and recycle it in an environmentally-friendly way for FREE. So you won’t have to pay or do a thing. And by ridding yourself of that old, energy-guzzling fridge, you could save up to $125 a year on your electricity costs.
During hot summer weekdays, when air conditioners are running at their maximum, the demand for electricity is at its highest. These times are known as peak demand times. If you have a central air conditioner (CAC), you can help the province to manage this peak demand by enrolling in peaksaver. Enrolling is easy and it’s free! Your participating local electric utility will install the necessary device (either a thermostat or switch). This device will allow your CAC to receive a signal that will cycle it down, which may increase your home’s temperature by only 1°or 2° C for short periods of time. The adjustment will only occur during weekdays and never on weekends or holidays, most likely between 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
SaveonEnergy Coupons helps you save on energy-efficient products for your home.
The NEW HOME CONSTRUCTION initiative is designed to encourage home builders and renovators to construct energy-efficient homes in Ontario by incorporating energy-efficiency into their construction or any extensive renovation.
The Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Program is a guaranteed funding structure that combines stable, competitive prices and long-term contracts for energy generated using renewable resources. Homeowners, business owners and private developers may apply to the FIT Program if they use one or more forms of renewable energy, including wind, waterpower, biomass and biogas, solar photovoltaic (PV) power and landfill gas.
Offered by the Ontario Power Authority, the Energy Retrofit Incentive Program (ERIP) offers grants for energy efficient retrofits to commercial sector entities, including up to $240 per square meter of installed collector for solar water heating systems. Incentives for solar water heating can be used to augment or replace an existing electric water heater. Your local electricity distribution company must be participating in the program in order to be eligible.
