The Commercial Corridor Housing Loan and Grant Program offers grants and loans to Hamilton residents, business, and developers to create new residential units on vacant land within Downtown Hamilton, Community Downtowns, Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) and 'Main Street Corridors'. The program provides financial assistance for: - Converting existing built commercial space into residential units; - Renovations to existing residential units, or - Construction of new units via building additions. Potential energy efficiency improvements could include: - Increasing the efficiency of the insulation and/or heating and cooling equipment; - Energy efficient windows and doors; - Energy efficient exterior/interior lighting; - Building automation systems; and - Building envelopes or over-cladding system or upgrades.
The Hamilton Downtown Residential Loan Program offers financial incentives for residential development within the Downtown Hamilton Community Improvement Area. The program provides loans to projects that: - Convert existing commercial space into residential units; - Renovate existing residential units; or - Create new residential units. Potential energy efficiency improvements could include: - increasing the efficiency of the insulation and/or heating and cooling equipment; - energy efficient window and doors; - energy efficient exterior/interior lighting; - building automation systems; and - building envelopes or overcladding system upgrades.
